Douglas Gessaman has worked in the Entertainment Industry for 19 years, and was graduated from the University of Houston in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Theater and a Minor in Studio Arts. With a primary interest in live theater, he has toured or worked locally with almost every Broadway show on the road, the “big Three” here in Austin and has produced shows in Texas and Mexico City with his N.A.F.T.A. theater company. He has also worked on several major films, in television and live music.
His educational experience includes two semesters at San Jacinto College as Assistant Technical Director, a teaching staff position. He worked as an art and theater teacher in the Urban smARTS program, a federally funded after school project to work with “at risk” youth.
His most recent experience with outdoor events was as Asst. Production Manager for Old Settler’s Music Festival. He has been in charge of event communication for the Kerrville Folk Festival for the past ten years and also for the ’03 Austin City Limits festival. In ’99 he was Technical Coordinator for the International Theatre Festival in San Antonio, a two week event that included over 30 performances and a parade. Douglas has been a volunteer at Barton Hills for the past 2 years as a Kindergarten Rodeo performer, d.j. of the 6th grade dance and an Art Matters teacher.
